"To be a Nutcracker is the dark side of me"
Somedays ago we taking advantage of the new discovery and following the release of his new EP "Nutcracker", we had the opportunity to talk with one of the band, the aforementioned Eve Evangel and this was what he told us:

What inspired you to create a band like that?
Good question. I’d say the fact that there was no other band like that around and it’s something I wanted to see myself. Some people just want to be a part of a certain style, we started because there was no such style. At least not the way we interpreted it. The entertainment factor is very important for us. When we record something it’s just an attempt to capture the spark from our live shows.

How did all the members meet?
I was blown away by how Japanese bands and artists were pushing boundaries when I went there for the first time. Its something that got lost in the west in my opinion. Back then you couldn’t really travel Japan without speaking the language which is why I signed up for a Japanese class right after coming back. This is where I met nana who went on to study Japanese later on. Dushi I already knew from our previous band. So the 3 of us got together and decided to start a visually appealing show band that kicks ass and entertains at the same time. There are different layers to it though. I love when lyrics have different layers and interpretations.
What is the wish of the band?
I’d like to be able to do what I want. We were never changing anything to sell more records or get more fans. Business-wise that’s not very smart of us and we love playing live, so the wish would be to be able to do whatever we like without having to make compromises. Our ruin ourselves.
How far do you want to go with your music?
The sky is the limit…? I doubt that we’d ever be as big as ..i don’t know..Beyonce?! But given the opportunity I don’t see why we would say ‘no thanks’. We love what we do and what would be better than do it all day every day and meet lots of cool people around the world. I think I’m to cynical and smart to appear to the masses, so that’s probably not happening.
In your last album "The Greatest show on Earth" was really amazing and wonderful, CONGRATULATIONS! but there is one with a very curious name, and so; many people have asked us...
Why "Rumpelstielzchen" to that song?, what does it mean?
Thank you very much. I’m happy someone liked it haha. Rumpelstielzchen is the misspelled German version of the fairytale ‘rumpelstiltskin’. The song is about the mono myth. The core of all legends that all of them having in common. About feeling lost and looking for something worth living for.
Also, we saw that this last Friday, December 22nd was the release of your new EP "Nutcracker"...
How hard was it? and why that name?
We had 2 of the songs ready for a while now and weren’t sure if we should save them for the next album, but then we figured it’s been a while so we released an EP to shorten the waiting period. The ‘Nutcracker’ is more or less about the alter ego I take on on stage. Or should I say one of them. If you look at some performers, some of them are like modern day shamans. They capture the audience and lead them to another world. The ‘Nutcracker’ is a dark part of me, almost like Rasputin, which is why there are some Rasputin references in the lyrics. Ultimately the shaman is immortal, because even if he dies his work will live on. Just look at Jim Morrison or David Bowie and all the other artists who’s legacy still lives on.
What countries have you played? and what has been your favorite?
We have mostly played in Germany and Austria, but we also toured Japan twice. In France we only played acoustic shows so far, which is a weird coincidence. Every country is different. Generally I prefer Meso- and South America. With Lolita KompleX we haven’t played there yet, but I remember it from my old band.
Which countries would you like to do a Latin American tour?
If it would be up to me ALL OF THEM. I’m a big fan of the culture.
Would you like someday to visit Costa Rica?
I’d LOVE to.

Hace algunos días, aprovechando el nuevo descubrimiento y tras el lanzamiento de su nuevo EP "Cascanueces", tuvimos la oportunidad de hablar con uno de los integrantes de la banda, el ya mencionado Eve Evangel, y esto fue lo que nos dijo:
Bueno, Eve dinos:
¿Qué te inspiró a crear una banda como esa?
Buena pregunta. Diría que el hecho de que no había otra banda así y es algo que quería ver por mí mismo. Algunas personas solo quieren ser parte de un cierto estilo, comenzamos porque no había tal estilo. Al menos no de la forma en que lo interpretamos. El factor de entretenimiento es muy importante para nosotros. Cuando grabamos algo, es solo un intento de capturar la chispa de nuestros shows en vivo.
¿Cómo se conocieron todos los miembros?
Me quedé impresionado por cómo las bandas y artistas japoneses estaban empujando los límites cuando fui allí por primera vez. Es algo que se perdió en el oeste en mi opinión. En aquel entonces no podías viajar a Japón sin hablar el idioma, por lo que me inscribí en una clase de japonés justo después de regresar. Aquí es donde conocí a Nana, que luego estudió japonés. Dushi ya lo conocía de nuestra banda anterior. Así que los 3 de nosotros nos juntamos y decidimos comenzar una banda de shows visualmente atractiva que patea traseros y entretiene al mismo tiempo. Sin embargo, hay diferentes capas. Me encanta cuando las letras tienen diferentes capas e interpretaciones.
¿Qué tan lejos quieres ir con tu música?
El cielo es el limite… ? Dudo que alguna vez seamos tan grandes como ... no lo sé ... ¡¿Beyoncé ?! Pero dada la oportunidad, no veo por qué diríamos "no, gracias". Nos encanta lo que hacemos y lo que sería mejor que hacerlo todo el día todos los días y conocer a mucha gente cool de todo el mundo. Creo que soy cínico e inteligente para aparecer ante las masas, por lo que probablemente no esté sucediendo.
En tu último álbum "The Greatest show on Earth" (El Grandioso Espectáculo en la Tierra) fue realmente increíble y maravilloso, ¡FELICITACIONES! pero hay uno con un nombre muy curioso, y así que; muchas personas nos han preguntado...
¿Por qué "Rumpelstielzchen" a esa canción ?, ¿Qué significa?
Muchas gracias. Estoy feliz de que a alguien le haya gustado jaja. Rumpelstielzchen es la versión alemana mal escrita del cuento de hadas "rumpelstiltskin". La canción es sobre el monomito. El núcleo de todas las leyendas que todas ellas tienen en común. Sobre sentirse perdido y buscar algo por lo que valga la pena vivir.
Además, vimos que el viernes 22 de diciembre fue el lanzamiento de su nuevo EP "Cascanueces"...
¿Qué tan difícil fue? y ¿Por qué ese nombre?
Teníamos dos de las canciones listas desde hace un tiempo y no estábamos seguros de si deberíamos guardarlas para el próximo álbum, pero luego pensamos que había pasado un tiempo, así que lanzamos un EP para acortar el período de espera. El 'Cascanueces' es más o menos sobre el alter ego que asumo en el escenario. O debería decir uno de ellos. Si nos fijamos en algunos artistas, algunos de ellos son como los chamanes modernos. Capturan a la audiencia y los llevan a otro mundo. El 'Cascanueces' es una parte oscura de mí, casi como Rasputin, por lo que hay algunas referencias de Rasputin en las letras. En última instancia, el chamán es inmortal, porque incluso si muere, su trabajo seguirá vivo. Solo mire a Jim Morrison o David Bowie y a todos los otros artistas cuyo legado aún vive.
¿En qué países has tocado? y ¿Cuál ha sido tu favorito?
Principalmente hemos tocado en Alemania y Austria, pero también hicimos una gira por Japón dos veces. En Francia solo tocamos shows acústicos hasta ahora, lo cual es una extraña coincidencia. Cada país es diferente. Generalmente prefiero Meso y Sudamérica. Con Lolita KompleX aún no hemos tocado allí, pero lo recuerdo de mi antigua banda.
¿A cuales países te gustaría hacer una gira por América Latina?
Si fuera por mí, TODOS ELLOS. Soy un gran admirador de la cultura.
¿Te gustaría algún día visitar Costa Rica?
